This upcoming benefit concert is in honor of one of CDS' longtime friends, Mr. Henry Peskin.
Henry Peskin will forever be remembered as a loved member of the CDS Community.
In 2013, with the assistance of the Charlottesville Albemarle Community Foundation (CACF), the Peskins toured several local schools. After those tours, Henry and Janice chose CDS as the recipient school for scholarship funds. Since then, the Peskins have fully funded Townley Fund scholarships (initially one and now two children per year). These students are provided full tuition, lunches, music lessons, and options for summer learning. Through the CACF, the Peskins established the Henry and Janice Peskin Scholarship Fund that will support The Townley Fund students at CDS in perpetuity.
Henry loved music, especially classical music. He joyfully attended CDS performances at the Paramount and Dickinson Theater. He brought a delightful presence to all these community events. He also supported music in other areas of Charlottesville, specifically as a long-time board member of the Charlottesville Chamber Music Festival. For years, Henry made sure that CDS students attended the Festival at the Paramount.

Previously called the Angel Fund, the Townley Fund is a scholarship program that supports early learners with deep financial need. Currently, the program supports five wonderful children with full tuition, lunches, incidental costs, music lessons, and options for summer learning. The majority of these students are members of the Charlottesville refugee community and receive additional services from International Neighbors. The initiative is inspired by the dedication and sacrifices of the amazing Mrs. Townley Cole, who has been a teacher for more than 50 years.
